Waiting anxiously outside the third base gate, I jokingly cross my fingers when the ballpark employee scans my ticket, as if this is the last “obstacle” between me and the game.
I head to the Holeman and Finch burger stand where I see a line larger than the crowd of people waiting outside the stadium.
Standing behind the seats in left field, I have a perfect view of the ballpark.
Towers stand tall in the batter’s eye and the grass on the field is as green as a Granny Smith.
The Braves leadoff man approaches the plate and the once screaming crowd falls silent in anticipation for the pitch.
A tarp of fans covering the seats chants the Tomahawk Chop.
The brown dirt warning track surrounds the entire field to prevent a player from smashing into the backfield wall or flying into the stands trying to make a difficult catch.
Reflection For my second remix, I decided to take the imagery I used in my descriptive essay and use it as captions for real-life photos of SunTrust Park. The is an essay I really enjoyed writing because of my interest and joy of Atlanta sports. The remix allowed me to take something I love, going to Braves games, and applying it to English. My goal in the essay was to make the reader imagine the same pictures on the screen by using descriptive language and word choice. It is like a checklist for my descriptive writing.
I do not usually, or in fact ever take pictures, so this assignment made me feel like a teen posting a picture of their food on Instagram. My dad mentioned this when I started taking pictures outside the stadium. For me, the action of pulling out my iPhone camera and taking a picture is exhausting. This explains my likeness towards descriptive writing. I much rather tell you what I saw through words than show you a photograph.
